Gregory A. McPherson is a native of Highland Park, Michigan and currently serves as the Vice President of Development & Special Events for the Urban League of Detroit & Southeastern Michigan. The mission of the Urban League is in direct alignment with Gregory’s passion for equity and empowering others. He’s responsible for the overall development efforts enterprise wide, and in short order, has secured hundreds of thousands of new funding sources to expand the Urban League’s portfolio. Prior to joining to Urban League, Gregory served as the Director of Adult & Senior Programs for Matrix Human Services, a multi-generational impact organization that serves individuals with the goal of helping people reach self-sufficiency. Under his leadership, he took a division with $300k in annual program funding to over $5 million in four years.

Gregory’s passion is in workforce development, economic mobility, community development, and housing stability. He affirms that systemic community problems, especially in the Detroit metropolitan area, can be adequately addressed through the intentional and thoughtful collaboration at four levels: service provider, funding provider, government, and the private sector. Gregory is a macro thought leader whose drive for systemic change is evident through the production of his work.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Siena Heights University where he received a scholarship to play basketball and excelled as a student athlete. He also holds a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from the Ecumenical Theological Seminary, has served in various ministerial roles, and has been a licensed minister since the age of 22. Gregory has been married to his lovely wife Ann Maire for over 10 years and they have four beautiful kids together.
